Fresh Bread, Pastries and Cakes

The in house baker bakes quality fresh bread, pastries and cakes every day. The breads range from white, wholemeal and granary to flavoured breads including olive bread and cheese and tomato bread.  The Yorkshire curd tart is very popular with customers, as are freshly baked scones and teacakes.

An assortment of cakes is always available. These range from chocolate flake, lemon and poppy seed, jam sponge and coffee and walnut. A selection of cakes are made using spelt flour, a traditional old grain which is the forerunner of modern-day wheat and is much easier on the digestion, as it contains an ideal combination of carbohydrates, fats, protein and dietary fibre.

The bakery also makes delicious quiches using local eggs, fresh vegetables, locally smoked salmon and Ainsty Farm Shop’s dry cured bacon.

Steve and Katri Alger are a father and daughter team who are both passionate about their craft. Steve worked as a baker for many years before sharing premises with the Ainsty team and Katri studied her craft at Thomas Danby College in Leeds.
